Care Instructions

To keep your Meibots shoes looking their best and extend their lifespan, please follow these care guidelines.

General Care

  • Avoid wearing the same pair two days in a row — let your shoes air out and rest between wears.
  • Use a shoe horn when putting shoes on to protect the heel counter and back seam.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading and material dryness.
  • Use shoe trees or stuff with paper when not in use, to help shoes keep their shape.

Leather Shoes

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove dust and surface dirt.
  • Use a leather-specific cleaner or mild soap with a damp cloth for deeper cleaning — avoid soaking the leather.
  • Apply a leather conditioner every 4-6 weeks to prevent cracking and keep the material supple.
  • Waterproof spray is recommended before first wear, especially for lighter colors.

Suede & Nubuck

  • Brush regularly with a soft-bristle suede brush to lift dirt and restore texture.
  • For stains, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth — avoid rubbing, which can spread the stain.
  • Use a suede eraser or specialized suede cleaner for stubborn marks.
  • Apply a suede protector spray before first wear to guard against water and stains.

Metallic & Patent Finishes

  • Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth — avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners, which can dull the shine.
  • Store separately or wrap in soft cloth to prevent scratching against other shoes.

Straps, Buckles & Hardware

  • Wipe metal hardware with a dry cloth to prevent tarnishing.
  • Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, or hairspray, which can cause discoloration over time.

Rainy or Wet Conditions

  • If shoes get wet, stuff with paper towel to absorb moisture and air dry at room temperature — avoid direct heat sources like radiators or hairdryers, which can warp materials.
  • Wipe off any dirt or salt residue as soon as possible to prevent staining.

Storage

  • Keep shoes in their original box or a breathable dust bag when not in use for extended periods.
  • Avoid stacking heavy items on top of stored shoes to maintain shape.
